Huntsville, Alabama — Keel Point is pleased to announce that Blake Waggoner has joined the Huntsville team as a new Investment Associate. Blake brings his passion to advocate for and assist others with their long-term financial goals. He has been interested in investing since he first bought stocks in middle school, though he took a circuitous route to becoming an Investment Associate.

Blake comes to Keel Point from Dynetics, a local defense contractor, where he led a team developing simulation scenarios for radar systems and then developed motion control systems for missile launchers. It was when he joined the 401(k) Investment Advisory Committee at Dynetics that Blake realized how much he enjoyed advocating for his coworkers by improving their retirement plan and helping people understand their investment options.

“I approached Blake about joining Keel Point after seeing how passionate he was about financial planning and investing,” said Kyle Findlay, Senior Wealth Advisor at Keel Point. “One of his strengths is his ability to explain finance and investing in a manner that anyone can understand. This ability coupled with his strong analytical skills, work-ethic, and character make Blake a perfect fit for Keel Point.”

Blake graduated Summa Cum Laude from Union University (Jackson, TN), with a degree in Mechanical Engineering earning the Academic Excellence Medal for the Engineering Department. He then received the Egtvedt Fellowship to study Aeronautics and Astronautics at the University of Washington (Seattle, WA). His Master’s Degree concentration was Automatic Controls and he wrote his thesis on evaluating the risk of Unmanned Aircraft System operations, receiving the department’s Graduate School Top Scholar award.

Since moving to Huntsville, Blake has become an avid mountain biker, serving on the board of the local mountain biking club. He competes in some of the most challenging mountain bike races in the Southeast, routinely representing Huntsville on the podium. Blake is enthusiastic about the local food scene and engaged with several local non-profit organizations (Downtown Rescue Mission, Lincoln Village Ministries, Community of Hope, Manna House).
