One of the nation’s premier boutique and entrepreneurial Multi-Family Office and Private Wealth Management firms, Keel Point seeks an individual to join our Horizon team as the Family Office Estate Planning Counsel in our Vienna, Virginia, office.
The Family Office Estate Planning Counsel is a key member of the Horizon team providing technical support to our Family Wealth Directors and Client Service Teams. This individual works integrally with members of the Client Service Teams to advise our ultra-high-net-worth clients. The Family Office Estate Planning Counsel will be instrumental in providing estate planning advice, as well as working with a team comprised of technical tax and financial associates.
Responsibilities will include the following:
Serve as Keel Point’s legal and tax resource, primarily for the Horizon (Family Office) team.
Review, summarize, and maintain trust agreements and wills.
Diagram estate plans and various estate planning strategies.
Participate in wealth design process with internal and external teams.
Interact with outside attorneys to implement estate strategies and plans.
Manage entity operations for clients including calculating and facilitating quarterly distributions, annuity payments, CLAT gifts, family limited partnership distributions, etc.
Ensure distributions are made in a tax efficient manner from a gift tax and income tax perspective.
Coordinate with outside centers of influence in the estate planning and tax planning areas to perform technical research and stay abreast of recent developments in these areas.
Perform gift and estate tax projections and tax planning analysis.
Provide technical oversight and training to the Keel Point Team in areas of financial planning and estate planning.
Manage multiple projects at one time on behalf of the team and our clients.
The ideal candidate will possess and reflect Keel Point Core Values. The Family Office Estate Planning Counsel is an attorney with five years’ experience and expertise in ultra-high net worth estate planning. The candidate should have a very strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word.
